Highland Espresso Shaker Cabinets

Espresso Shaker is Highland's dark-brown stained shaker — five-piece solid wood, deep espresso stain showing the grain through the color. Strong visual contrast that works best as a perimeter or island finish rather than full-room use.

About Highland Espresso Shaker

Highland Espresso Shaker cabinets — what to know

The style

Why homeowners pick it

Espresso is Highland's dark brown painted shaker — saturated and modern, the strongest framing for kitchens that want a furniture-quality look. Good for islands and tall pantries when the perimeter stays light, or for the whole kitchen when the lighting plan is generous.

Construction

How Espresso Shaker is built

Highland's American face-framed construction. Drawer boxes are dovetailed solid wood with 1/2" thick sides riding on full-extension undermount soft-close steel slides — they pull out completely and lift off for cleaning. Doors are full-overlay 5-piece birch wood on a birch wood face frame, hung on 6-way adjustable hidden hinges with soft-close. The cabinet box is 1/2" plywood reinforced with metal “L” brackets, with 3/4" stretchers on the back and a 4-1/2" recessed toe kick. All interiors get a clear-coat UV finish.

South Florida fit

How it works in our climate

Dark cabinets need a thoughtful lighting plan in Florida — recessed cans plus under-cabinet LEDs keep the kitchen from feeling closed in. We pair Espresso with skylights or oversized windows where possible, and reserve it most often for media rooms, butler's pantries, and statement islands.

Pairings

Countertops, hardware, and where it fits

Pairs sharply with white or light-veined quartz, marble, brushed nickel or matte black hardware, and wide-plank wood floors. Common in Delray Beach, Lake Worth, and West Palm Beach transitional homes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Highland Espresso Shaker

Is Highland Espresso Shaker actually black?

Deep brown — reads close to black but with visible brown undertone and wood grain showing through. Not a true black paint.

How does Highland Espresso compare to Onyx Shaker?

Both are Highland's darkest finishes. Espresso is brown-based stained wood; Onyx is closer to a true black painted finish.

Will Highland Espresso fade?

Stained finishes are more UV-sensitive than painted finishes. In rooms with direct sun, expect some lightening over decades.
