Highland Modern Slate Shaker Cabinets

Modern Slate Shaker is Highland's slim-rail painted shaker in a cool slate gray. The narrower rail reads more contemporary than a traditional shaker while keeping the framed construction's shadow lines.

About Highland Modern Slate Shaker

Highland Modern Slate Shaker cabinets — what to know

The style

Why homeowners pick it

Modern Slate is Highland's blue-gray painted shaker — deeper than Arctic Blue, less saturated than Hunter Green. It reads as a sophisticated mid-tone neutral that pairs with both warm and cool finishes.

Construction

How Modern Slate Shaker is built

Highland's American face-framed construction. Drawer boxes are dovetailed solid wood with 1/2" thick sides riding on full-extension undermount soft-close steel slides — they pull out completely and lift off for cleaning. Doors are full-overlay 5-piece birch wood on a birch wood face frame, hung on 6-way adjustable hidden hinges with soft-close. The cabinet box is 1/2" plywood reinforced with metal “L” brackets, with 3/4" stretchers on the back and a 4-1/2" recessed toe kick. All interiors get a clear-coat UV finish.

South Florida fit

How it works in our climate

Blue-grays handle Florida's bright light better than pure mid-tone grays — there's just enough blue undertone to keep the cabinets from looking washed-out at midday. We use Modern Slate most often as a perimeter color with a contrasting island.

Pairings

Countertops, hardware, and where it fits

Pairs cleanly with white or light-veined quartz, marble-look quartzite, brushed nickel or polished chrome hardware, and tile or wood-look LVP floors. Common in Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and Lake Worth contemporary kitchens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Highland Modern Slate Shaker

Is Highland Modern Slate cool or warm-toned?

Cool — leans slightly blue-gray, distinct from a warm greige.

Will Highland Modern Slate read dated in 10 years?

Slim-rail shaker silhouettes have trended strongly in recent years; the cool-slate color is more trend-sensitive than a neutral gray.
